SHE RAW

SHE-RAW.jpg

Photographic artist Lilli Waters is delighted to announce her first solo exhibition, a collection of 41 portraits of women from all walks of life.

The SHE RAW project began in 2010 and aims to document everyday women within a state of fantasy whilst drawing directly from their real-life experience and context.

This series of photographic portraits uncovers fascinations of the many engaging mysteries and hidden truths which lie, often undiscovered, beneath a woman’s skin. By drawing intimacies and challenges, self-reflection propels us into the untold relationships we have with ourselves and the women around us, giving us further insight into the contrasts of external beauty and internal sanctums.

As with “women who run with wolves” these women roar.

Please join us for opening night to celebrate her debut exhibition and the official book launch.

Gallery: Blak Dot Gallery, 413 Lygon Street, East Brunswick. Opening night: Thursday the 3rd of May, 6:30 to 8:30pm. Entry is by gold coin donation going to White Ribbon.

Catering provided and beer, wine, and sparkling available by gold coin donation.

Special guest, Melbourne’s “DJ Kiti”, will be spinning some ole school funky female party tunes throughout the evening!!

The SHE RAW book will be launched at the opening, as well as a surprise product by a collaborative designer working with SHE RAW. The exhibition closes on May the 13th.

Lilli wishes to dedicate this project to preventing violence against women. Proceeds from the collection will help a truly worthwhile cause, with 50% of profits from the published book featuring the photographs to well-known charity White Ribbon, an organisation that works towards the prevention of violence against women in Australia. White Ribbon Ambassador and social entrepreneur “Jeremy Meltzer” will be present on the night to speak about the initiative.

Early prints from this project were chosen to be part of a group exhibition at ‘off the Kerb gallery & studios’ in December of 2011, and also won the People’s Choice Award for The Focus Project 2011.
In order to have made this inspiring project a reality, Lilli would like to sincerely thank our 62 supporters and media sponsors for helping to raise the funds associated with exhibiting, printing and publishing. Without you, this project would not have been possible. Pozible Crowdfunding has been kind enough to support this project.

Feel free to forward this appeal to your friends and colleagues.

Warm Regards,

Lilli Waters
